What the investigation needs to establish
A leak that appears only under certain conditions benefits from a clear history. We review events before the symptom, previous findings and the affected systems. Suitable tests are chosen around reproducible conditions where possible.
Bring the useful details
Keep a dated diary of use, readings and photographs. Record observations without deliberately recreating a damaging leak.
Keep the boundaries clear
A dry visit or limited access may leave uncertainty. Follow-up work outside the agreed instruction must be discussed.
A method with a purpose
Pressure testing may form part of the investigation when the conditions suit it. We explain what the result supports and what remains uncertain.
