What the investigation needs to establish
A leak investigation starts by separating what is known from what is suspected. We review the pattern of water loss, inspect accessible fittings and establish which system could be involved. Appropriate isolation and detection checks then narrow the search. A wet surface alone is not enough to identify a failed pipe.
Bring the useful details
Record when the signs began, which rooms are affected and whether normal water use changes them. Include the results of any earlier checks.
Keep the boundaries clear
Condensation, rain penetration and drainage faults can produce similar signs. The findings must support the proposed plumbing work.
A method with a purpose
Pressure testing may form part of the investigation when the conditions suit it. We explain what the result supports and what remains uncertain.
